Yes, you can watch TV on your computer. In fact, with today’s advances in technology, you can watch TV on pocket PC. But, first, what is a pocket PC?

Well, a pocket PC, abbreviated as either P/PC or PPC, is a hardware specification for a handheld-sized computer. It is also known by Microsoft as a “Windows Mobile Classic device” mainly because it is a personal digital assistant (PDA) that runs the Microsoft “Windows Mobile Classic” operating system. Put simply, a pocket PC is a handheld device that allows it users to store and retrieve electronic mails, contacts, appointments, and tasks; play multimedia files and games; exchange text messages with Windows Live Messenger; browse the World Wide Web; and a lot more.

In the 1970s, calculators which could do simple business and scientific applications were available. In the year 1982, Hewlett Packard’s HP-75 incorporated a one-line text display, an alphanumeric keyboard, BASIC language, and some basic PDA abilities. So you see, the pocket PC evolved from prior calculator-sized computers. Now, pocket PCs do have some of the abilities of modern desktop computers.

But for a mobile device to be labelled as a pocket PC, it has to meet the criteria or the various hardware and software requirements specified by Microsoft. First, any device which is to be classified as a pocket PC must run Microsoft’s Windows Mobile PocketPC edition. Also, it must come bundled with a specific suite of applications in ROM, and be based on an ARM version 4 compatible CPU, Intel XScale CPU, MIPS CPU, or SH3 CPU. Finally, it should include a touch screen, a directional pad or a touch pad, and a set of hardware application buttons.

By choosing to watch television on a pocket PC, users will be able to relax while not leaving their workstation. All they really need is a high speed internet broadband connection, and they can be well on their way to enjoying satellite television online. For this reason, you will realize that watching TV on the internet is especially useful for those people who travel a lot.
